Albert Einstein once said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” Grandview has had several changes which include a new Principal Ms.Venita Thurman.

Before Ms.Thurman became a principal she was a high school teacher. She taught business and computer classes in KCK at Herman Highschool. After teaching for three years she was a dean of students, years late she became an assistant principal.

This is Principal Thurman’s 16th year in administration. “I enjoy being a principal because I feel like I have some administrative skills,” Thurman stated. Her favorite part about being in school is working with children.

Students and staff have been through a lot dealing with Covid. “Things are hard but people come together and, find a reason to celebrate, find a place to belong, find that positive environment at the school.”

Principal Thurman has volunteered to work with teaching English as a second language. Also, she volunteers in recovery programs. She enjoys being able to help people, and lead them in the right direction.

“Change is hardest at the beginning, messiest in the middle, and best at the end,” – Robin S. Sharma.
