Picture the biggest events being filled with silence, silence that echoes throughout the entire place. Depressing isn’t it?
The band at Grandview works really hard to set a positive mood at the school’s events.
“We love music and music determines the vibe of every event. If we play good music, we set the environment of good feelings; that’s how we look at it,” said Opaline Flenoy, a junior.
With all of that pressure of setting the mood as our band does, is there any room for mistakes?
“I never worry about messing up during a performance, you have to be comfortable. Even if you do mess up it’s not the end of the world. As long as you get back on track, your mistake probably isn’t even noticed as long as everyone stays on track,” said junior Erica Spencer.
It all comes down to practice.
“The reason we’re able to be so comfortable is we practice every other day. That’s a lot,” Flenoy says. “Even though we may like to have practice every day, we don’t, because it can be overwhelming and that’s where the discomfort comes in.”
