Summer is the time when youth, with the right amount of talent, can go out and make a name for themselves. Well, that is exactly what Morgan Walker from Grandview Senior High School was granted the opportunity to do.
From Aug. 5-11, Walker was invited to take part in Starlight Theatre’s production of Footloose as part of the Blue Star Ensemble, a program that that allows area high school students to take part in stunning plays and musicals such as Footloose, Beauty and the Beast, Sweeny Todd, and A Christmas Carol.
Walker said she was “extremely ecstatic” when she found out she was selected for the show. Walker has strong feelings for theatre and acting.
To assume that Morgan is an aspiring actor would be correct.
When the topic came up, she practically jumped for joy, exclaiming a future occupation in theatre is “definitely” a possibility. Her reaction is just what you’d expect from a person open enough to be considered a thespian.
GHS theatre teacher Ms. Taylor has high praise for Walker’s abilities.
“If she (Walker) ever decided to take up a career in theatre, she would definitely be able to do it,” Ms. Taylor said.
Walker has an outgoing personality and it is clear that she has quite the passion for the arts. She described the experience in a theatrical way by saying, “Yes, ’twas most nerve racking.”
Walker is going to appear in Grandview’s upcoming musical Zombie Prom. The role she’ll play is that of Miss Strict, the principal of Enrico Fermi High School.
