September 6-7 was an exciting weekend for GHS. It was Hall of Fame week and six people were being inducted into the athletic class. This was a deserving accomplishment for these inductees.

“We are very excited to host the fourth class of inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.  These men are so deserving of this honor. We have 5 athletes and 1 coach coming back to accept this award this year.  I’m hopeful that athletes from all genres are able to attend,” gym teacher Dana Bedwell said.

The inductees are: Jim Roberts, track and football, 1963; Don Angell, football, 1972; David McKnight, football, 1983; Greg Bradley, football, 1985; Alec Burks, basketball, 2009; Randy Farris, boy’s basketball coach, 2000-2014.

“I feel grateful that it happened and it was a special achievement that I will remember forever,” Burks said.

The inductees were acknowledged Friday at halftime of the Bulldogs football game at Lee’s Summit High School. Then, on Saturday they had lunch and received their awards for their achievements at GHS.

This was a special moment for these inductees. Next year these inductees can acknowledge the next class.
