Halifax County Deputies Search for Goode Man Last Seen Aug. 4 While Visiting a Home, as Family and Contacts Report Nearly Monthlong Silence

Halifax County Sheriff's Office notice about missing man Bryan Kast and a blue Nissan Maxima

HALIFAX COUNTY, VA — The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 55-year-old Goode man who was last seen Aug. 4 while visiting a home in Halifax County. Bryan Kast was reported missing Wednesday, Sept. 2, after people who regularly speak with him said they had not heard from him in nearly a month.

Investigators say Kast also has ties to the Blacksburg and New River Valley areas. Deputies have not released any information about why he went missing or where he may have traveled after he was last seen.

Deputies say Kast may be traveling in a blue Nissan

The sheriff’s office said Kast could be in a blue 2012 Nissan Maxima with Virginia registration UBK-4111. That vehicle description is now part of the search as deputies try to track his movements after Aug. 4.

Authorities did not say whether the car has been confirmed with him or only linked to the search based on available information. For now, the main lead released publicly is the vehicle and the timeline surrounding his last known sighting.

Last known sighting came during a visit in Halifax County

According to the sheriff’s office, Kast was last seen while he was visiting a home in Halifax County. The exact location of that home has not been made public.

That makes the Aug. 4 sighting the key point in the investigation, with no additional public details about his route, companions, or destination after leaving the area. Deputies have not said whether any witnesses have provided further information.

Family and regular contacts had not heard from him for weeks

Officials said people who are usually in touch with Kast had not heard from him for nearly a month before the missing-person report was filed. That gap prompted the Sept. 2 report to authorities.

In missing-person cases, that kind of silence can help investigators identify the last confirmed time a person was known to be safe. Here, the sheriff’s office has said only that the absence of contact was significant enough to trigger the search.

Blacksburg and New River Valley ties may help widen the search

Deputies said Kast has connections to both Blacksburg and the broader New River Valley region. Those ties could help direct tips from people who know him or may have seen the vehicle in those areas.

At this stage, officials have not announced any evidence that he is in either location. The additional geographic connections simply give investigators more places to look as they try to build a fuller picture of his recent movements.

How to contact the Halifax County Sheriff's Office

Anyone who has seen Kast, the blue Nissan Maxima, or has information that could help locate him is asked to call the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 434-476-3339.

The sheriff’s office has not released any further updates on his condition or whereabouts. For now, the public notice centers on the time he was last seen, the vehicle he may be driving, and the request for anyone with information to come forward.
