Theater can be tricky. It is stressful to get up and dance and sing in front of strangers, family, and friends.
Sometimes it’s easy to give up, but GHS’s singers, dancers, actors, and actresses and working hard to make their upcoming show a hit.
“I hope that we do have a large audience and I hope it will be a great learning experience for the students involved,” said Mrs. Rachel Taylor, the GHS theater teacher and play director.
In November, theater students will perform the musical “Zombie Prom.” The story focuses on a pair of high school sweethearts, Jonny and Toffee, in Enrico Fermi High.
Jonny is a rebellious bad boy and Toffee is a goody-two-shoes girl. The two fall in love during a duck and cover drill, for the school is near an unstable power plant. They end up dating for months before Toffee’s parents tell her to break up with Jonny. She obeys, and Jonny kills himself by tossing himself into the power plant. He later comes back as a rotting decaying corpse, a zombie, and he’s just in time for prom. The only problem is antagonist Miss. Strict, who wants this zombie not to attend the school or prom.
The opening play date will be at the dinner theater in November.
