Writing Club became operational after the winter break and has held meetings every Monday since then. Writing Club was founded by freshman Ben Buller because he wanted to encourage other students to explore and expand their writing.
“I wanted to start the club because no one else would,” Buller said. “There are many students who are making attempts to write stories.”
After getting approval for the club concept from GHS Principal Steve Scraggs, Buller received support from English teacher Adam Smith to serve as the club’s adviser.
The club is off to a good start with five members. The club includes Brandon Von, Jessie Fuller, Buller, Cheyenne Sprowl, and DaVion Huey. The club has high hopes for future growth.
The ultimate goal for the club is for people to just have fun and have a book written and published by the end of next year while also opening up horizons for new learning experiences for anyone interested. The club is open to everyone. Club members also hope to publish collective works such as poetry.
The club has high hopes for new members to join next year and it plans to host a guest author to talk to students about how to make money through writing.
