Coming from a big win at Belton last week, the Grandview Bulldogs traveled to Kearney on Oct. 18 for the ‘showdown of the Bulldogs.’ The game didn’t go as the Grandview fans hoped, however, with GHS falling 7-63.
As the countdown of the game came, the number of Grandview Bulldogs’ fans making the trip up north increased. The game began and despite cold weather, Grandview was ready to play.
Two minutes into the first quarter, the Kearney Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with a 32-yard touchdown. The score jump started Kearney’s offense, which scored two additional touchdowns in the first quarter.
Grandview scored its first touchdown of the night late in the first quarter, making the score 7-20 to start the second quarter.
Grandview had several chances to gain yards on the field, but Kearney’s defense proved difficult to overcome.
Coming to the second quarter, the Kearney Bulldogs scored two more touchdowns, making the score 7-42 at the end of the first half.
The second half started up and both teams hit the field strong. Grandview continued to play hard, but it wasn’t good enough to add points to the scoreboard. Within the third quarter, Grandview’s defense couldn’t stop the offense from scoring yet another touchdown.
The third quarter came to an end and the game was quickly coming to an end as well. Just into the fourth quarter, the Kearney Bulldogs scored two more touchdowns, making the score 7-63.
The Bulldogs will take on the Liberty North Eagles on Oct. 25 at GHS for senior night.
