The battle between the Grandview Bulldogs and the Belton Pirates came to an end when the Bulldogs shut down the Pirates on their Senior Night, 45-28.
“This was a good game, but it’s not our best. We started off real well. In the second half, we shut them down,” said Jerel Alexander, running back for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs enjoyed a 28-21 lead at the half and put the game away in the second half.
“We executed in the second half and did everything that needed to be done,” said senior Freedom Akinmoladun.
The Bulldog defense stiffened in the second half allowing just one touchdown. Meanwhile, the offense got things rolling to outscore the Pirates by 17 points.
“At halftime Coach told us to take control of the game and this team can not play with us,” said senior Christian Hunley.
On Oct. 18, the Bulldogs will face the Kearney Bulldogs.
Strong safety Christopher Hunley expects a tough game.
“This will be a tough game for us, but it should be a victory for the Grandview Bulldogs.”
