It’s that time of the year again and the Bulldogs are coming out of the dugout refreshed and ready to play! Spring sports are starting up again — including baseball.
The boys have played a good handful of games already and a tournament. So far, the results have been superior and the boys have made the coaches proud.
“We’re off to a good start, the big picture is looking well,” says junior varsity Coach Tom Doherty. As of April 10, the JV team has gone 4-2, which is a great start. Doherty’s favorite part of being a Grandview coach is watching the boys develop their talents and their maturity.
Varsity has also made their imprint on the season as well. As of April 10, the varsity team’s record stood at 4-4.
“I’m proud of the boys so far, they’ve bonded as a team and are always there to back me up when I’m pitching,” said varsity pitcher Ryan Lee. So far Lee hasn’t been letting the boys down either; his highlight of the young season is throwing a no hitter through five innings against William Chrisman.
“I think our greatest competition is not just how hard or easy a team is, it all depends on the boy’s attitude toward the game,” says Doherty.
Their records so far would seem to indicate that the Bulldogs are building a successful season.
The boys played Liberty North on April 9 and came short by 3 runs, losing 4-1.
“Sometimes winning teams have to lose some,” said sophomore varsity player Brennan Lewis. The Bulldogs have a whole season in front of them to become stronger in their skills, attitude and spirit. The teams seem excited for the season ahead of them.
