The new iPhone 6 immerges: Imitation or new invention?
October 13, 2014
As many of us know, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus launched Sept. 19. Social networks are all raving about the new invention.
The devices are said to have the best cameras they have ever had and both of the phones received a larger screen. The regular iPhone 6 features a 4.7 inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch screen.
Many people would argue that the iPhone 6 Plus is imitating the Galaxy Note 2 which released from Samsung in 2012. The iPhone 6 Plus is the same size as the Galaxy Note 2.
Although they are similar in size, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus have many great improvements. For example, the iPhone 6 has a longer-lasting battery and larger displays. They even have new keyboards, including the Android keyboard for new iPhone users. Some would interpret that Apple included the Android keyboard to copy Samsung, but it’s mostly to gain Samsung’s customers.
Recently, Samsung shot back at Apple, arguing that just a few years back Apple was saying the Galaxy Notes were ‘unwieldy beasts,’ meaning they are just too big in size, but now Apple has both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in a big size. Did Apple change its tune?
The answer is yes, and no.
The size of Apple’s new phones isn’t the only change. The iPhone 6 Plus has a new dual interface which lets the users show more things on the display. There’s a new gesture for both products called reachability which helps one-handed users. You gently tap the home button and it pulls the screen towards your thumb. You can also change the display size, which lets you see more on the screen or zoom, which make the controls bigger for easier viewing. Basically, the new Apple releases have improvements that the Samsung phones don’t. Ironically, if the new iPhones weren’t the size they are, they wouldn’t need some of the improvements that they have.
Which leaves some people in a dilemma.
If the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has similar improvements, will the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus really be that much better than Samsung or worth getting at all?
