Deep breaths, wide eyes, and nerves rushing through the body. Monday night at 7 p.m. the senior class of 2014 entered the Independence Event Center for the ceremony they’ll remember for a lifetime.
Opening remarks, introductions, and performances by the chamber choir and band set the mood for the evening. Along with these things, two very courageous students, Danielle Collier and Jimmy Aduddell stood in front of everybody to present their speeches. These speeches summed up their high school experience along with the two’s outlook on success.
Afterwards, the Salutatorian (Katherine Bartlett) and Valedictorian (Iliana Guardado) were presented their awards and addressed the graduates and guests.
Last but certainly not least, was the presentation of Class of 2014. Each student walked across the stage while being cheered for as they received their diploma. Next, Senior Class President DeMeka Thornton-Jordan announced the moving of the tassel and the hats went flying in the air.
Confetti, cheering, smiling and crying all took place when the Class of 2014 were finally announced high school graduates.
