Grandview High School hosted a basketball game in the North Gym on April 19 featuring the Harlem Wizards versus Grandview’s All-Stars. This event was a family event to be enjoyed.
The Harlem Wizards basketball team entertains fans with fancy tricks, wild dunks, athleticism, teamwork, and humor. They work to bring laughter and smiles to the audience and help to raise money for charitable organizations, schools, and other foundations.
Going against the Harlem Wizards were the Grandview All-Stars, with guest coach, Michael Coleman, the sports director for KCTV 5. Other volunteers were put in to play such as Superintendent Ralph Teran, Mayor Steve Dennis and Police Chief Charles Iseman.
The profit from ticket sales, raffles, souvenirs, and concessions will be used to benefit PTA programs in the district and to help improve school facilities and programs.
Additionally, not only did this event help with funds, but it provided an atmosphere for entertainment for all family and friends.
The Harlem Wizards provided a connection with the community as they included others in with their activities and performances.
During half-time, all the kids were called down to the court to have a mini dance party. Public address announcer DJ Swiv, also the disc jockey, mixed his own beats for the children to dance with some of the Harlem Wizard players. Children filled the court with dance moves, laughter, and excitement.
Throughout the game, the Harlem Wizards performed their ball tricks and slam dunks. Because they are professional, the Wizards gave mercy from time to time, allowing the All-Stars to score several baskets. In the end, with the scores really close, the Harlem Wizards still won. Audiences enjoyed their time participating with the team and getting autographs and pictures.
