It’s nice outside, it’s allergy weather, and everybody is running, throwing, and jumping. It’s sunny! Well, if you couldn’t guess, it’s track season!!

On Friday, April 5 the track team went to Blue Springs High School  for an invitational meet where they performed very well.

Senior Demonte’ Blanks placed 2nd in the 1-10 hurdles.

Senior Lanaa placed 7th in the 200 with the time of 26.73.

Sophomore Reggie King placed 2nd in the 400 with 2.11.

Sophomore Rayvon Epperson placed 2nd in the mile.

Track meets include distance events, too. One of GHS’ distance runners is Rayvon Epperson.

Epperson, a sophomore, is running the 4×800, 800, and the mile. He said, “I  plan on furthering my track career in college but I don’t know what school yet.”

First-year head coach Jeremy Wardlow is pleased with the team’s start to the season.

“It’s off to a good start, but there’s some more room for improvement,” Wardlow said.
