The softball team had its best record in decades despite a tough loss against Lee’s Summit West in the second round of the district tournament. But when the final out of the game was recorded, the Lady Bulldogs knew that they had reached a impressive milestone. They finished with a record of 14-12.

“We were 6-4 in conference play which placed us third this year. The Lady Bulldogs gave LSW their closest district game so far. Even though we lost five seniors, we didn’t have any juniors this year. We will have a lot of people returning next year. With this being my last year I want my players to continue working hard and putting the team before themselves,” said Coach Doherty.

This senior thought her last season was a special one. “My last season was great, it was full of many accomplishments and the team grew stronger together,” said senior left fielder Pyper Moore.

The seniors had great moments this year. Senior Night and winning our first district game against Belton was magnificent,” said right fielder Taylor Glass.

For what’s in store for the future Lady Bulldogs will be fascinating. “The future of softball holds a lot towards my teammates and I. I want to continue my softball career in college and play at Texas Southern,” said third baseman Jayden Moore.

The Lady Bulldogs will be making some big changes next year. “Losing Head Coach Doherty and five seniors is kind of hard on the team but next we will have to come back stronger by filling those five spots and working with the new coach,” said catcher Faith Lee.

The softball team hopes to make an even more impressive season next year. Focusing on going further in the playoffs. After, beating Belton 7-1 and losing to Lee’s Summit West 10-0.
