When the boys basketball season begins, all the GHS teams will have plenty of talent — and for the first time in many years, much of that talent will come from  juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Having all that talent on the same court has members of the team excited.

With past experience with the other teams, the coaches once again feel very confident this season.

Head Coach Reggie Morris states, “With many new players joining the team, I feel as though the first game will provide a great learning experience for beginners. This year I want each player to come out and play hard, play smart and play together.”

Sophomore Tremaine Banks excitedly says, “Every athlete has a certain way they get mentally and physically prepared for their season. Each of us do it in a different way. “I’m going to the gym everyday. I am very excited to upgrade from freshman to varsity.”

Another sophomore, Tyreese Davis, says, “with the competition and new players each team is going to face new challenges, new players and new coaches.”

Everyone has a different perspective and mind set on the season. Davis added, “With a new coach, I feel as though we are going to have more wins. With the way we already have played together on the court we can tell we are already going to have a great season due to the chemistry on the court.”

Freshman Mason Taylor says, “As a freshman, if I deserve to be on varsity it will be a honor. I will be very excited about it and if I do deserve it, and it will be a surprise.” Taylor also says talent wise they have an huge advantage, and they’re all used to how one another plays.
