Deaunta Moss, sophomore at Grandview High School, started from the bottom and now he’s headed to the top.
On April 9, at Belton’s JV track meet, Moss surprised the coaches and himself as he placed and set a personal record in both events in which he was entered.
Moss placed second in high jump and third in pole vault.
“Moss is a great athlete,” said Grandview Head Track Coach Andy Leech. “He is constantly improving in practice and meets.”
Moss was understandably excited about his performance at Belton’s meet.
“I was so excited that I set personal records in both of my events,” Moss said. “This was my best meet.”
Leech is encouraged about the progress of his squad. “Every meet we learn something about them,” Leech said. “We’re trying to find who’s going to state and I think we’re on the right path.”
