2013 will be the year for new beginnings, new experiences, and for some, a whole new look! It’s out with the old and in with the new, and now is an exceptional time to stock up on clothing and trendy new items for spring and summer. The question is what’s in style? What’s fashionable varies from year to year, and it is important to find the look that defines you. This column will be a guide to show you what’s hot and what’s not for women’s spring/summer fashion in 2013.
Spring is a time of bright colors, floral patterns, and tons of lace. This is a parallelism to all of nature in bloom during spring. However, this spring will usher in a great of deal black and white. From soft pastel tints of white to the always classic black, these colors are timeless and this spring, one cannot do without the other. The runways are abuzz with black and white being used as a canvas for more eye-catching colors. You can never go wrong with these two colors; but with a little splash of red or other primary colors, it would give an outfit just the right amount of richness. Lace is also becoming a huge part of spring fashion. Although lace is an elegant touch to a simple outfit, it is possible to over-do it. Too much lace detracts from the natural classy look and can look frilly and gaudy. Just a small touch of lace, whether it is on the sleeves or the neck line of a contouring blouse, will give you a graceful appearance.
Summer is the season of Daisy Dukes and bikini tops, but it seems bikinis are becoming less fashionable than in previous years. This year, one pieces with open sides are going to be flying off the racks, along with high waist cut off shorts, and open toe sandals. When paired with the right apparel, these things can make a casual summer outfit look chic and refined. Summer dresses are also going to be huge this summer. The one shoulder dresses give off a trendy-yet poised look while a subtle pastel floral pattern gives a more summer-based feel. Accessories that are making a comeback are among copper-colored jewelry and Ray-Ban sunglasses. This gives a vintage look while still looking modern. Summer is a very difficult season to be fashionable in because not only are you trying to look good, you’re trying to be comfortable during the hotter months. It’s always better to be comfortable than stylish.
Although style changes from year to year, it is always best to establish your own style and wear clothes that define your personality. Who knows, maybe you could create your own look that will inspire others to follow your trend!
